Summer exhibitions

The summer exhibition season has started!

On Friday I took Mrs Jackson and Master Jackson to the preview of the First-View Art Gallery annual summer exhibition at Stourhead in Wiltshire.  There was a wide range of works on show including painting, ceramics and sculpture from many different artists.  The First-View Art Gallery is in a beautiful setting, by the National Trust's Stourhead Gardens and next door to the Spread Eagle Inn, which serves very fine ale and home cooked food.  I have six paintings on show plus a number of prints (from £40).  The exhibition is on until Sunday 30 June 2013.

I shall be taking part in a number of other summer exhibitions and art festivals over the coming months.  Coming up in July is the Sherborne Art Club Open Art Exhibition (20 - 28 July).  Sales at last year's summer exhibition helped raise funds for a number of local charities:  Friends of Yeatman Hospital, The Rendezvous and the Sherborne Voluntary Ambulance.

In August I will be at the Burton Bradstock Festival of Music and Art (12 - 18 August).  As well as art there is an extensive music programme, including jazz, bluegrass and classical concerts.  The art exhibition is open 10am-7pm (3pm on Sunday18 August) but you can also view the art during the interval if you attend an evening concert.

Last, but by no means least, is the 19th Art Exhibition in the village of Leigh in Dorset.  This takes place at the impressive Leigh Village Hall from 30 August to 1 September.

All of these should be great days out in the West Country.

I also have a big show coming up in October with Billie Wilcocks and Colin Gosden at the Workhouse Chapel in Sturminster Newton.  This is now confirmed for 21 September - 6 October. I will be showing a new series of abstract paintings which I am rather excited about.  More on this soon.  In the meantime I had best get back to the studio...
